Restoring Covenant in America

It may be the most forgotten element in America’s history. So disregarded, even so-called experts in the field know nothing of its origin or its substance within the founding of America. I am speaking of course concerning the subject of covenant and more specifically how covenant can be restored in this nation.

A covenant has been defined as a bonding deal cut between two parties, and while there are terms and circumstances laid out within any given covenant, the underlying theme is honor and trust. Each party has to have faith in his or her dance partner within the said covenant. The fact is, any given covenant made void of honor and trust is doomed to fail, destroying any chance for relationships to build accordingly. Thus to enter into a covenant is a gamble of everything one might hold near and dear to the heart.

Honor…. Trust…. Faith…. Relationship…. These are the backbone of everything we as true Americans hold near and dear to our hearts. Without them, we are doomed to fail, succumbing to evil that is all too willing to take advantage of our shortcomings of character.

There are however, men and women scattered throughout our nation who have a good understanding of the need to bring these characteristics back into the forefront of the national mind… To find the path that leads to being reconciled back to our Creator and King. In short, there are those who desire our nation to turn back to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, through the terms and conditions of a covenant that is already in effect. Truth be told, the covenant made by our Founding Fathers establishing the government of these united States of America (small “u” intended), was reduplicated from a very powerful source.

Thus the secret to restoring covenant within America, and to begin walking the road toward reconciliation with The Almighty God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is to rediscover the exact same source our Founding Fathers drew from. Great men like Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, and others, were only just beginning to understand this concept and to instill it within our government, 250 years ago. They were not experts, but they were light years ahead of the knowledge that was increasing at that time.

It was the exact same source the Pilgrims and Puritans themselves were beginning to learn over 400 years ago, as they exercised one of those before-mentioned key characteristics, FAITH, to journey to a brave new world… America.

The origin I speak of is the only book of the Bible, no one knows. I am not referring to any of the supposed lost books of the bible, such as Enoch or Jasher, or Jubilees, or even any of the books of The Apocrypha. I am expressly alluding to an actual book and its contents, within every Bible on the plane of the earth. This book has 36 chapters of the bible written in it, and while every confessing Christian owns some form of the Holy Bible, I would be willing to bet, any amount of money, if you were to ask a thousand Christian teachers, in any given denomination, including Jewish Rabbis and or even Sages, the following question, not one single so-called authority on the subject of the Bible would lend the correct answer to the following question…

Where are the CONTENTS of The Book of The Covenant located in the Bible?

Now, I am quite sure, you might obtain answers to the effect that The Book of The Covenant is mentioned by Moses, within the story of the giving of the Law at Mount Sinai:

“Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that The Eternal has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.” Exodus 24:7

However, what I am asking for is the knowledge of where the contents of this book are found within the Holy Bible, not merely where the Book of The Covenant is mentioned, for I assure you, those 36 chapters of this allusive book are in The Holy Bible, no matter the version. And again, my money is on the fact that not one single so-called Bible teacher or scholar will lend the correct answer to this very important question.

You see there is a universal problem with what The Apostle Paul called “rightly dividing the word of truth” in his second epistle to young Timothy.

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2Timothy 2:15

Allow me to throw another question at you.

How many codified sets of laws are there within the Torah?

Please note, I am not asking, how many laws are within Torah, but rather how many “written” sets of laws are there within the writings of Moses? Most biblical teachers and even scholars would tell you there is only one Old Testament Law and it is nick-named the Law of Moses. I stand ready to make it known that there are two sets of laws in the Torah that have to be rightly divided, and differentiated between.

Now, stay with me here. If you have eyes to see, you just might begin to see the problem we have in restoring Covenant within our nation, and as you may well know, if you can identify the problem, you’re a long way down the road to setting the record straight.

So, allow a few facts to jump off the page.

First, the two sets of laws within the Torah are:

1- The Eternal Law of Liberty, Covenant Law, written in the 36 chapters of The Book of The Covenant. Please note the word “Eternal” as in always existing.

2- The Added, Temporary Levitical Priesthood Law of ceremonial sacrifices which were given instead of death. Please note the word “Temporary” as in, having a beginning and an end.

These two sets of codified laws make up all the laws within the Torah. Christianity and Judaism are greatly deficient in rightly dividing between these two recorded laws, lumping them both into something called “That Old Law”, if identified by a believer in Christ or just simply referred to as “All of Torah” if referred to by Judaism. Neither, “That Old Law”, nor “All of Torah”, rightly defines or better said distinguishes between these two sets of laws.

Secondly, allow a couple of really good definitions for each of these two sets of laws.

Covenant Law is defined as the proper way to worship Our Creator, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob…. And how to live righteously and justly with our fellow man. Christians would recognize this definition as the very mantra of Christ… Love toward God and Love toward Man. So, what gives? if Christianity teaches this invocation of Christ, what’s the point? Well, sit tight on that little inquisitive thought… I’ll come back to that very important answer in just a moment.

Levitical Priesthood Law is best defined as a punishment placed upon “Covenant-Breaking Israel” until Israel’s redeemer and savior manifests in the flesh in the form of Jesus Christ. Thus Levitical Priesthood Law is very much a temporary covenant. However, if one rightly divides between these two sets of laws and identifies the detail thereof accordingly, the eternal concept of Covenant Law is manifested in the mind of the Believer.

Yes, that’s right… Levitical Priesthood Law was a punishment. Instead of killing every single idolater of Israel at the Golden Calf Event, The Almighty in His mercy and for the sake of His Mighty Name, gave Israel statutes which in His own words, were not good for Israel and did not lead to life. Note the following text…

Moreover, I gave them statutes that were not good and rules by which they could not have life, and I defiled them through their very gifts in their offering up all their firstborn, that I might devastate them. I did it so that they might know that I am The Eternal. Ezekiel 20:25–26

These statutes and rules instituted by The Almighty because of Israel’s broken promise to keep His Covenant, are the added and yet temporary Levitical Priesthood Laws, which Paul rightly recognizes as The “ADDED” law until Christ should come. Think critically concerning Paul's explanation of this, with emphasis added within parenthesis for clarity.

“Why then the (Levitical Priesthood) law? It was ADDED because of transgressions (The Golden Calf Event) until the offspring (Christ) should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary (Moses).” Galatians 3:19

“Now before faith came, we were held captive (being punished) under the (Levitical Priesthood) law, imprisoned (punishment) until the coming faith would be revealed (in the manifestation of Christ in the flesh). So then, the (Levitical Priesthood) law was our guardian (keeper) until Christ came, in order that we might be justified (made right) by faith.” Galatians 3:23–24

Now, before we leave this very basic explanation of the added but temporary element of Levitical Priesthood Law, allow just one more passage to be considered that should nail down the point.

“Now if perfection had been attainable through the LEVITICAL PRIESTHOOD (for under it the law was legislated), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron? For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well.” Hebrews 7:11–12

The writer of Hebrews is quite clear earlier in the book, before the necessary institution of The Levitical Priesthood, Israel was under the Priesthood of Melchizedek. Likewise, after Christ came, which as we can read in the text above, brought a change to the law, via a change of priesthood from Levi to the continued order of Melchizedek, through our newly established High Priest, Our Savior. Thus the statutes and rules (judgments) that did not lead to life that Ezekiel wrote about in chapter 20 of His Endtime prophecy, quoted above, dissolved to all who became Believers in Christ, after the resurrection.

The above explanation correctly defines the process of rightly dividing the word of truth, which is found within these two sets of codified laws.

And thirdly, The answer to the above question which 100% of all Bible teachers and scholars simply do not know. The contents of The Book of The Covenant are found in the following 36 chapters of The Holy Bible:

The first and original entry is penned by Moses, Exodus 20 through 23.

The second entry, also penned by Moses, Leviticus 25 through 26.

The third entry, written by Moses, right before he died, Deuteronomy 4 through 31.

The fourth and final entry, via the hand of Joshua, is located in Joshua 23 through 24.

I have written a full-length book lending all the detail needed to rightly divide the word of truth concerning these two sets of laws and the vast importance of Covenant Law in today’s society. Included within that work is a correct explanation of the judgment coming upon our land if we do not turn back to our God and His conditional covenant. The founders knew it. They lived it. They are screaming from their graves the following text which prophesies of America’s infancy via the Pilgrims and Puritans 400 years ago.

“I (The Eternal) will take you (Israel), one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion (America).” Jeremiah 3:14

This prophecy continues…

“‘And I will give you shepherds (men like John Westley, George Whitefield, and Jonathon Edwards) after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.” Jeremiah 3:15

The Almighty continues through His end time Prophet…

“And when you have multiplied and been fruitful in the land, in those days, declares The Eternal, they (wayward Israel) shall no more say, “The ark of the COVENANT of The Eternal.” It shall not come to mind or be remembered or missed; it shall not be made again.” Jeremiah 3:16

The above statement has been misconstrued, misapplied, twisted, and totally taken out of context as being a positive statement. The Almighty is very clear within the context…. It is nothing short of treason.

“Surely, as a treacherous wife leaves her husband, so have you been treacherous to me, O house of Israel, declares The Eternal.’” Jeremiah 3:20

To abolish Covenant Law, found inside of the ark written on tablets of stones, and outside written in the pages of a book, called The Book of The Covenant, is nothing short of a finger in the eye of God…. Treason. And our Founding Fathers knew it.

Now before I wrap this tip of the iceberg up concerning an introduction to Covenant Law and the restoration thereof, I must address one very small DETAIL that I said I would come to earlier in this article. I asked the rhetorical question… What gives? If Christianity knows the general principle that says Covenant Law is best defined as “love toward God and love toward neighbor”, what gives? Where is the problem?

Well, you have heard it said, “The devil is in the detail”, right? Well, that statement itself is best understood, “The Devil is in the lack of detail.”

You see if Christendom doesn’t know the contents of The Book of The Covenant… and they don’t… then how can they weigh the detail against their own lives accordingly? The answer is… Christianity has openly and ignorantly, stuck its finger in the eye of God, literally teaching all of God’s law is abolished at the stake on Calvary, failing to rightly divide between the before-mentioned sets of laws within the Torah.

Simply put… If America is going to restore covenant within this nation, it is a must that we begin to first admit that we have abandoned the terms and conditions of His Covenant Law, just as ancient Israel did in the desert. Then we must vow amongst ourselves to begin studying the details of Covenant Law, via the words written within the 36 chapters of The Book of The Covenant, found in everyone’s Bible. This understanding flies in the face of our national Christian theology, which has become unblessed by The Almighty as we speak. Any effort to argue against that statement hails from a head-in-the-sand mentality. It’s obvious to anyone paying attention.

To restore Covenant Law within our nation would require an uncomfortable examination of ourselves and even our theology which would most certainly go against our lacking national moral fiber. Such an effort would begin to cause us to recognize just how poorly we measure up, individually and collectively.

Then maybe, just maybe, The Almighty God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will Himself remember the covenant already standing and fulfill the words promised by the Prophet Nathan…

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2Chronicles 7:14

May The Almighty bless you in your studies of His sword of The Word.
